Layperson Summary
Phosphatases work as brakes in cell proliferation. Kinases work as accelerators. Over-expression of kinases or down-regulation of phosphatases are relevant for proliferative disorders. We presented on the strange phenomenon of the over-expression of phosphatases (SHP-1) in LCH at the 2008 Histiocyte Society Annual Meeting. We are going to transfect the SHP-1 gene to LC cell line and analyze what will happen by transfection.
